How we assess your health
You're more than a list of symptoms
Health rarely makes sense from one symptom, one measurement or one questionnaire. Sometimes it takes an experienced Registered Nurse to connect the dots, take a wider view and see you as a whole person.

At Alcove, we start with why you're here and what you want to be different. That might be feeling better, living well with a chronic condition such as diabetes, sleeping better, losing weight, having more energy or simply making your health more of a priority.

From there, we use the parts of our assessment that are useful to you. That may include health measurements, clinical observations, evidence-based assessment tools and the everyday factors that influence your health.

But assessment is only useful if it leads somewhere.
We bring what we find together, help you decide what matters most and turn it into realistic next steps for your health.
Â
We provide a Health Map with every session as well as tools and trackers to help you in your everyday life.
Â
And we don't finish with another instruction to 'manage your stress' or 'make time to relax.' Restoration is built into Alcove care. Because when life is already full, the things that support our health are often the first things we struggle to make time for.

Not every assessment is used with every person. We collect the information that matters, put it into context and use it to help you move forward.
From information to something useful
Measurements and assessment scores are only valuable if they help make your health easier to understand.

At the end of your consultation, we bring together the relevant parts of your:

health story + measurements + assessment findings + lifestyle + priorities

We use this information to identify what appears most important now, what may simply need monitoring and what might benefit from further assessment or care elsewhere.

You'll leave with a personalised Alcove Health Map summarising the key findings.Â

Because the goal isn't simply to assess your health. It's to help you understand it.
A screening result is not a diagnosis
These tools add information to a consultation, they don't diagnose a condition on their own. If you or your Alcove nurse feel you need a diagnosis you will be advised to see a GP or appropriate professional.

We will consider a result alongside your symptoms, history, measurements, existing healthcare and, importantly, whether the result actually reflects your experience.

Where something needs further investigation, diagnosis or treatment outside Alcove's scope, we'll explain that clearly and recommend the appropriate next step.
